went for OBS 5 day student leadership programme 28/08 - 01/09..
belong to MARSHALL watch with a neighbour watch MUNSHI..
lol.. a watch is basically a team that help each other out in everything we do..
new frenships were made, new bonds were made..
2nd time going for OBS, each with different courses.. different watch-mates.. different enviroments..
Day 1:
reached Punggol jetty @ 8am ( supposed to reach @ 830am )..
waited there, fed the mosquitos, and soon people started coming in and we started chatting..
one of the first few i met was Shaggy.. cool guy eh.. haha
after a while others came too.. other schools came too.. haha but most prob they are doing the 5daysoutdoordiscoverycourse and not the 5daystudentleadershipcourse.. haha..
after a long wait, we finally got onto the boat towards Pulau Ubin..
around 5mins, we reached OBS camp ONE.. haha
HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE DAY ARE BELAYING TUTORIAL, GAMES, PACKING OF STUFF FOR EXPEDITION..
nth much during first day bah... juz that the first aid briefing was f*ing boring and long..
Day 2:
woke up in the morning and had some PT ( OBS style ).. lol haha.. den after that rockwall!!.. something that i nv conquered.. haha.. but this time i did it!! .. i climbed the wall with a bit of fear, then i went up the second time with a lil twist.. i had to lead a fren up with him blindfolded and him linked to me ( thru a strap ) ahah.. nth bad eh.. after wallclimbing, we went back and got ready for our sea stuff.. used the Lettman ( 3 seater ) instead of the usual 2 seater kayak.. kayaked from OBS camp 1 to OBS camp 2.. haha.. camp2 was usually for the mobile peeps.. broken down campsite with old facilities.. haha.. reached there at around 5pm.. den we started to cook and build our tents.. lol.. there and then i was chosen to be one of the four Sea Expedition leaders.. haha.. nt bad eh.. lol.. went up and discussed the route to go for the sea expedition and stuff.. so plan and plan and finally had a route to take.. so thus day 2 ended off like this..
Day 3:
finally the start of the sea expedition seh.. haha.. went around Ubin and into one of the mangrove swamps.. damn shiok la.. kayak halfway thunderstorm, den got lost in the swamp, got bitten by spiders, etc.. haha.. one of the things that bothered us the most was the timing, miss the timing and we will be walking in thick mud.. hahaha.. but still we all managed to get out of the island and into the next campsite.. this is when all the adventure comes in.. reached the campsite, to the horror of some, the campsite is juz a patch of land.. with full of SANDFLIES AND MOSQUITOES.. ahahha NO TOILETS NO BED NO FAN NO KITCHEN.. haha to add on, a thunderstorm came when we reached.. all of us were caught unprepared , even the instructors.. lol.. good thing everyone was focused in one aim , which is to survive the night.. haha all of us hid in the tents eating and drinking hot stuff to keep ourselves warm and stuff.. imagine the whole night wet and cold.. hahhaha.. So thats how day 3 ended..
Day 4:
woke up, changed into something dry and stuff and went over to have our raft building.. behind the campsite is a quarry.. FRESHWATER QUARRY.. hahaha.. the group had our rafts built.. damn nice la.. too bad i dun have the pictures yet.. if not sure post.. haha.. the raft even had a STEALTH MODE =P.. lol..
haha after that we headed back to CAMP ONE!!!!!!! hahaha back to warmth, cosyness, comfort, etc... hahahah sometimes it makes u wonder, will you take all the things around you for granted?? what if they werent there, will u survive?? will you tressure it??
okok back to camp 1.. haha we cleared all our stuff and got ready for dinner and debrief.. haha and soon the night came.. then there was this activity called the TUNNEL.. ahah basically its like being put into this tunnel and you have to find your way out.. you cant even see anything, it was pitch dark and stuff.. ahha i managed to get thru it, like im scared of dark like that.. lol..
the gals were so funny la.. they went in and got out thru the way they went in... hahahah..
anyways this activity made me think .. wad does darkness mean to you.. if you were a leader and suddenly everything goes haywire, uncertainty comes in, darkness comes in, how will you handle it?? will you bravely fight it? or will you juz sit somewhere and wait for help..
yupz thats basically for day 4..
Day 5:
FINALLY LAST DAY OF OBS!!... first thing in the morning was HIGH ELEMENTS.. lol.. we did something extreme la.. ahha.. i did the log thing.. it was super slippery.. u cant even stand on it.. wad makes it worse is that im scared of heights and its like super high la.. around 5 storeys high.. haha but still i did it.. hahah accomplishment!!.. haha.. ok after that we all got ready to go back liows.. so fast 5 days passed, with lots of lessons learnt.. this trip was so worth it..
OBS , to serve to strive and not to yield..
TIRED, COLD, DIRTY, HUNGRY, WET.. but all was worth it..
